The
Hellenic Institute of Metrology (EIM) is the national metrology
institute of Greece. It is supervised by the
General Secretariat of Industry,of the Ministry of Development.
It constitutes the national metrological body as well as the official technical
state advisor on issues of metrology. It was founded in 1994
and legally established by the state law 2231/94. It is located in the Industrial
Area of Thessaloniki, Greece.
It
includes 16 metrology laboratories housed in two independent buildings
that cover an area of 4.000 sq. m. (building A) and 1.800 sq.
m. (building B) respectively that fully meet the standards for
metrology laboratories. The laboratories are equipped with computerized
environmental control systems and their construction is such that
minimizes the electromagnetic interference and vibrations.
The
laboratories maintain the national standards for
the realization and dissemination of the fundamental and derived
units of the International System
of measurement (SI).
The laboratories offer calibration services and their operation
complies with the requirments of ISO 17025.
